Illustration Process: Android (Part 2 of 2)

Good morning. This post wraps up the android painting process.

I took an extra week to work on this piece, but the process didn’t seem to get any easier the longer I worked on it. It was hard enough trying to make metal look like metal, then second-guessing where the light source was, then limiting the color palette so I wouldn’t lose the focus of the image.

The greyscale start and pencil sketch, to me, looked fresher than the finished painting, and I think that’s what we artists struggle to keep hold of when completing any work. It’s such a challenge, but when successful, the rewards far outweigh the difficulties. All I can do is try again. Best to you in your creating endeavors this week.
